Best Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad Reviews

1. Cooler Master NotePal X3

We’ll kick off our list with this product from Cooler Master. It is part of their long-running and very well regarded NotePal cooling pad series.

The X3 though is specifically designed for gaming laptops. Could that help to make it the best cooling laptop to suit your needs though?

Review

The big stand out feature has to be the fact that Cooler Master has designed it with a single fan in this design. On the one hand, that does help to keep the fan volume low at most speed settings. There is after all only one motor working rather than a series of them.

Some people are concerned that a single fan installation doesn’t provide enough cooling power. With some other models, that could be a legitimate concern but not here. While it may only be a single fan, it measures 200mm to provide an oversized and powerful cooling presence.

In addition to the fan, there are some other features that we liked here. The design is attractive without being too loud or flashy. It also feels nice and solid and is a little thicker than some other cooling pads out there. That thickness really helps to lend it a feeling of stability during use.

The operation is nice and easy too, with a simple dial used to control the fan speed. Do be aware that at the highest speeds, the fan does get a little noisy, but that will be the case with most cooling pads.

PROS

  • check
    Powerful and oversized fan
  • check
    Easy to control
  • check
    Easy to control
    Takes up to 17-inch laptops

CONS

  • Loud at maximum setting

2. Thermaltake Laptop Cooling Pad

The second cooling pad to make the list is this entry from Thermatake. Just like the model above, it boasts a single-fan design. It also boasts a premium price tag, being easily the most expensive product on our list. Is it worth the investment?

Review

The simple answer to the question we put out above is that yes it is very much worth it! There is a lot in this design that we really liked, starting with the fan itself.

Just as we saw with the first product, the fan is oversized and
measures 200mm. But because the pad itself is somewhat oversized, it seems to fit better within the overall design. It is able to generate excellent cooling levels while keeping noise generation to an absolute minimum.

We were also extremely impressed with the wide range of size compatibility. This laptop cooling pad brings. It can happily accommodate laptops sized from 10 all the way up to 19 inches. Control is simple, with a built-in control panel allowing control of the fan speed and lighting options. It also has a more subdued and subtle design than you will see with many other gaming laptop coolers.

It is a little on the larger side, measuring 18 inches in length and weighing in at around 3.5 pounds That does make it a little less mobile than other cooling pads, but the size is the tradeoff required for the incredible level of cooling ability this product delivers.

PROS

  • check
A wide range of laptop size computability
  • check
    Large and silent fan
  • check
    Ergonomically designed

CONS

  • Pricey
  • Quite large and heavy

3. Enhance Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad

Midway through our list now, and we are delighted to introduce this cooling pad from Enhance. Does it live up to the company though? Will it help to enhance your laptop gaming experience?

Review

This is another well-designed pad that is more toward the subtler end of design when it comes to these products. It does have a number of handy features though.

It has, for example, two small but secure front-mounted bumpers. These help to hold the laptop in place at a range of angles, which is useful as the pad itself has three height settings.

Inside the pad, you will find five fans, making it the first five-fan design to make our list today. While this generally results in devices with a very high degree of cooling power, Enhance has gone with a slightly out-of-the-ordinary fan layout here. What you essentially have is one large centrally mounted fan measuring 120mm and rotating at up to 1264 RPM.

Four smaller fans measuring 70mm and spinning at a max 2630RPM in turn then flank this large fan. This does mean that the cooling powers of the device are very much concentrated in the center. Whether this is effective with your specific gaming laptop will, of course, depend on where you notice overheating is concentrated.

PROS

  • check
    Multiple fans
  • check
Built-in bumpers secure the laptop in place
  • check
    Three-year warranty

CONS

  • Cooling is mainly to the center of the laptop

4. Vanble 5 Fan Gaming Laptop

This is the second five-fan equipped model to make this list. It certainly has a very eye-catching design, but can it back up the visuals with a high degree of cooling performance? Let’s find out!

Review

The first thing to note with this design is that while it also employs five fans, it does so with a design that places equal importance onto each one. There is no bias toward a large, central fan but rather five equal-sized fans that turn up to 1400RPM. That allows for a cooling effect that can operate across the entire surface of the pad.

Design-wise, we are clearly very much toward the more eye-catching end of the spectrum here! Frankly, the design will not match everyone’s taste. The lights, in particular, can be a little too garish. It is good to see that the light can be controlled individually, with one set of controls dedicated to them, while the other control is set up for the fans themselves.

Price-wise we are very much in the middle of the range here. That means that while there are a number of high-end features on this product, some things are missing that you would expect on a truly premium product.

It is, to give just one example of this, a shame the fans cannot be individually controlled. Despite this, it does provide a high degree of cooling performance for a very reasonable price tag.

PROS

  • check
Multiple fans all rated at 1400 RPM
  • check
    Dual USB 2.0 ports
  • check
    Lights and fans controlled separately

CONS

  • The design does not suit everyone.
  • No control for each fan

5. Marvo FN-30 Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad

We’ll finish up with this simple but powerful cooling pad from Marvo. It packs a quad-fan design, so one less than seen on the majority of other pads we’ve looked at. Does the missing fan impact performance, or could this be the right cooling pad for you?

Review

The question we asked was will the missing fan affect performance, and the simple answer is no. This is a powerful and effective cooling pad that makes use of four very well placed (and slightly oversized) fans to provide efficient cooling powers.

Not only does it do a great job of cooling laptops, but also remarkably quiet too, even at the higher speed settings. It’s also a useful feature that the fans are controlled as pairs, so you can increase or decrease fan speed to suit different parts of the laptop if you find overheating concentrated in one area.

Controls are simple flick switches and easy to use. There are dual USB ports for ease of attachment, and the product comes with one USB lead, so you have everything you need to get going straight out of the box.

It is worth noting that the mesh covering is a little on the thin side. Add that to the fact it can only take laptops up to 17 inches, and you may struggle to get larger and heavier laptops onto the pad.

PROS

  • check
    Multiple fans
  • check
    Double USB ports
  • check
Compatible with 15- to 17-inch laptops
  • check
    Very quiet

CONS

  • Weak mesh on the pad surface

FINAL VERDICT

Picking the best gaming laptop cooling pad out of this list was a tough task because all five devices made excellent cases indeed. In the end, we had to go for the Thermaltake cooling pad as the pick of the bunch.

It had nice solid construction and subtle visuals to appeal to a wide range of users. It also had huge compatibility with laptops of varied sizes, being suited for anything from 10- to 19-inch gaming laptops. Add to that the very high-quality oversized fan, and it’s the clear winner.
